Waterloo, ON – November 26, 2012 – Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today announced that more than 50 carriers have now implemented integrated carrier billing on the BlackBerry App WorldTM storefront for their customers. The announcement marks a great milestone for RIM, and a big benefit for carriers, developers, content providers, and customers.
Integrated carrier billing enables a customer to purchase apps or digital goods on their BlackBerry smartphone, and simply and conveniently have the purchases put directly on their regular monthly bill from their carrier. Integrated carrier billing is also integrated with the BlackBerry Payment Service, which enables developers and content providers to offer in-app purchases (such as additional levels in a game), as well as supporting one-off and recurring (subscription-based) purchases, without interrupting the customer’s app experience.
Carrier billing services have proven to drive significant value for the whole mobile ecosystem, including carriers, developers, content providers, and customers. Aggregated data indicates that customers’ propensity to purchase apps on BlackBerry App World increases when carrier billing is offered, with an average of 75% of gross sales transacted through the carrier and average carrier revenues derived from apps increased between 100%-300% after launch.
Ronjon Nag, Vice President for the BlackBerry App World storefront at RIM, said, “We’re delighted to announce that over 50 of our carrier partners are now offering integrated carrier billing to customers on BlackBerry App World. We remain committed to developing innovative ways to support our carrier partners, while providing a platform that benefits the whole mobile ecosystem.”
Ray Anderson, CEO, Bango, whose mobile payment platform enables charge-to-bill payments in BlackBerry App World, said, “Our relationship with RIM goes from strength to strength and we’re delighted to see the integrated carrier billing experience Bango enables on BlackBerry smartphones in the hands of more and more customers. We’ve seen smartphone users rely increasingly on the ability to charge the costs of digital goods to their carrier bill, and with RIM, we’re providing them with a frictionless payment experience.”
Dario Talmesio, Principal Analyst, Informa Telecoms & Media, said, “Mobile operators recognize that RIM works closely and constructively with them and with more than 50 operators now offering integrated carrier billing it’s a great milestone that shows these relationships are productive. Mobile operators recognize the business benefits this service provides and the opportunities for repeated customer engagement on BlackBerry App World.”
BlackBerry App World is now available in 170 markets and territories worldwide offering more than 100,000 BlackBerry smartphone apps.

As per our last post we explained our readers about BlackBerry 9620 coming soon on Nextel although RIM hasn’t specified or released it full details and still slight information on it aside from the obligatory UAProf listed on RIM’s servers. We somehow were able to grab this image although this will be a QWERTY device and by looking at the above image we are informed enough that this will be an QWERTY smartphone and will run on the latest available OS7.1, at present this device is headed to release on Nextel Mexico and even they have listed this on their website.
The above Poster is almost a full specification and features sheet of BlackBerry 9620 and we all believe that this will be a cost effective and efficient smartphone that will join the BlackBerry family. However the release date with the pricing has yet not being officially announced but the rumors are that it is going to be released somewhere in December just before the release of BlackBerry’s newest platform BlackBerry10. Although you can click on the link below to keep notified about the availability of this product. This Smartphone will not be proficient enough to compete with BlackBerry10 but will definitely serve the purpose as it is intended for.
Nextel Mexico will soon be offering all new BlackBerry 9620 Smartphone in the month of December 2012 and Nextel Mexico has also started promoting this new device. This BlackBerry 9620 device is giving a BlackBerry Curve appearance and will be having a dedicated Push-To-Talk button and few more advantages on its similar group devices.
BlackBerry9620 will be getting the latest OS 7.1 and the pricing and other details are not yet been officially released but customers can pre order to make sure they get this product as soon as it is released. At present we only got this Poster of 9620 and although it looks like curve but we all know appearances can be decisive too and further more we BlackBerry Fans aren’t ready for another curve.
One of the fastest growing markets for RIM is India, where BlackBerry sales are over the roof when compared to other countries. RIM has open various Premium stores in Delhi, Gurgaon and Mumbai which are already very popular among customers but now just to add some more charm to the BlackBerry smartphone these stores are offering MicroSD cards preloaded with some of the admired movies totally free. This will be a MicroSD card with a capacity of 4GB and 2 movies preloaded which can be choose from following movies:-
- 3 idiots
- Rowdy Rathore
- Paan Singh Tomar
- Remember The Titans
- The Rock
- Prince of Persia
- Gone in 60 Seconds
- Pirates of the Caribbean 4
Although there is no official announcement about the time period of this offer but we think this offer might be for a limited time that too it will probably be ending on January 31, 2013 when the most awaited smartphone BlackBerry10 will be having its global launch. We also believe that this could possibly be a marketing strategy to sell off maximum BlackBerry7 Smartphones before the new BlackBerry10 platform goes live or it could also be a festive offer to customers as Christmas and new year are almost around the corner.
